Hostas
Some of the most versatile shade perennials available, hostas can be used as ground covers, accent plants, mass plantings and container gardening. These popular shade perennials are grown primarily for their foliage, which may be creamy white, variegated, chartreuse, rich green, dark blue-green, or other hues. During the summer, nodding, bell-shaped flowers open on scapes above the foliage and attract pollinators. Hostas are available in a wide range of sizes, from mini hostas that fit neatly into containers to giant hostas that can reach up to four feet tall. Ideal for shade and woodland gardens, hostas are suitable for growing in zones 3-9.
